woke up early in the morning to go to school for practice. wasn't particularly exciting, but it was certainly fun with weiting the siaozarboh around.
after that, had lunch and watched flora do her OM stuff for more than 3 hours, but OM seems really cool, and it looked fun to do!
anyways, i decided to stop being such a passive member of avpa and start doing duty, so i helped out at orientation. hoho, i'm such a screw up the mikes kept having feedback cause the secones were screaming into the mikes and it was 205620476027651626 decibels loud. just like me when i was sec one. loud.
oh wait, i still am.
okay never mind. it was fun though, with flora. really brought back nostalgia and I-MISS-209 tendencies, but come to think of it, i hardly remember anything about orientation. okay, some parts, but hell it was 3years ago, and people DO get old..
but i miss 209 anyways, ORA come quick! :D
but anyhow, yesterday we had this annual discipline talk, and i believe that the whole school found it amusing.
"folding your socks in a manner that reveals the Archille's tendon to distract attention from chunky calves"
i am in no position to say anything about that, but all i question is the rationale of having high socks. granted, we ARE a "learning institution" and have to uphold the standard and regulations of the school, but honestly, having high socks does not equate to professionalim and wearing lower socks that do not cover the seemingly hideous ankle bone would deem you a person of lower civic status.
i fail to understand why the school is so anal about the colour of the underwear we wear. i mean, so if we wear pink bras we're not professional anymore? i really don't get it, and probably never will, because your bra can hardly be seen through your pinafore, unless of course, someone was intent on knowing the colour of the lingerie you wear.
similarly, the handphone rule makes little sense to me. yup, the whole rational of the handphone rule is to provide a conducive environment for us to study in without loud, blaring ringtones interrupting a very interesting lesson.
but even after school, the locations we are allowed to use our handphones are restricted to the cafeteria and the foyer, which is clearly demarcated by different coloured tiles and oh if you happen to be one step off the tiles, then woe betide you and God save Nathan already.
i recently found out that it was illegal to use the ipod in school, simply because the school is a learning institution and not for entertainment purposes, ergo we are not allowed to derive the simple pleasures of life from music, even if you are just dying of boredom. the rationale given was that the school did not want us to show off our possession of high-tech gadgets to the less fortunate students in the school. but what if i was one step outside school and using the ipod, wouldn't that make the whole rationale void and totally defeat the purpose of the rule? so what can they do, ban the use of mp3 players in presence of those who do not own one, or ban the whole area outside school? (i am not giving them ideas, i am merely making a point). i am not saying the rule shouldn't be there, i am just saying that i, personally, me myself i do not see the point of it and others should not be influenced by my point of view.
please note that simply because i do not agree with the school rules does not make me defiant or unable to adhere to to the school rules. and i'll have you know that i do not intend to get booked for the rest of the year (because i have changed my ways!). so disagreeing with the rationale and existance of some rules does not mean that i will fail to comply.
please feel free to disagree with me.
